My name is Jose! My running journey began in spring of 2021 when I ran short distances around my neighborhood to get back into shape. Running became therapeutic and a nice escape from the real world when the pandemic was in full swing. Little by little, with the help of friends and attending early Saturday morning runs along the lake, I began running longer distances. Eventually, in 2022, I completed two half marathons, and looking back, I never would have guessed I could run that far! I am ready to take on my next challenge of running my first Chicago Marathon.
I am fundraising for Team Chicago Run, a nonprofit organization that provides young people from Pre-K through high school with inclusive running and physical activity programs. Team Chicago Run primarily focuses its programming in under-resourced communities with limited access to physical activity and play. Their mission is dear to my heart; any and all donations are greatly appreciated. Please, help me reach my goal for a great cause!
