WE ARE RUNNING IT BACK!
Back for my second marathon, I'm extremely excited to be running the CHICAGO MARATHON with Team Chicago Run!! Having left the classroom, I'm consistently looking for ways to support K-12 schools and education systems at large. I can't wait to run for the kiddos of Chicago, supporting their ability to access running programs in their communities!
Chicago Run empowers young people from Pre-K through high school with equitable access to inclusive running and physical activity programs. Through the power of sport, Chicago Run builds resilience to stress and trauma and develop social and emotional skills.
I witnessed my own students benefit greatly from physical education and afterschool sport opportunities. I have too many memories of my own students experiencing emotions and experiences that I had limited ability to help with. But after PE or a great team practice, my students came back more emotionally regulated and ready to learn. I'm eternally grateful to teachers and coaches who take on this work--it's hard!
