Maureen: Running For Chicago's Youth
Chicago Run empowers young people from Pre-K through high school with equitable access to inclusive running and physical activity programs. Through the power of sport, we build resilience to stress and trauma and develop social and emotional skills.
Last year I had the honor of joining the board of Chicago Run, a tremendous organization with the mission of offering physical activity programs that meet young people where they are. Chicago Run partners with schools and community organizations to provide regular opportunities for trauma-informed and non-competitive physical activity. Through the power of sport, our programs promote improved academic performance, positive relationships, development of social-emotional skills and growth in physical and mental health.
I first ran the Chicago Marathon in 1999! I did not plan to make this a lifelong endeavor, but when I cross the finish line in 2024 it will be the 25th anniversary of my first marathon finish. To honor this milestone I am running on the charity team and hope to raise $25,000 for Chicago Run! I truly appreciate your support and any amount counts!
